Colossal Errors
Mirus Gallery, San Francisco, CA
An exhibition at Mirus Gallery in San Francisco exploring the relation between personal mistakes and errors in society depicted in heavily flawed paintings. I have always been fascinated about the concept of incompletion. Both from an esthetic and a metaphorical perspective. For this series of paintings I attempted to find the delicate tension and balance of the moment of ‘perfect gestural incompletion’ . In this sense, ‘flawed’ refers to undone or unfinished. Thus the paintings as well as their subjects depict a ‘work in progress’. Why should any artwork be complete or done, when we, ourselves, or society as a whole is heavily under construction?
